Housing Starts

As Mayor, I propose to create a working relationship/partnership with local home builders to “jump-start” new home building. Homes would initially be built (1) house at a time. NOTE: Historically, multi-home builders have chosen not to build in Barstow because of unfavorable demographic concerns and this fact remains to date.

We need to annex the heights. Without that, we damage ourselves and our voting possibilities, our partnerships and opportunities for housing development.

Yes . . . I do agree. I have spoke to many residents in the heights and they DO NOT agree!. There needs to be an education drive behind this effort . . .

      Thank You

I would find it difficult to believe that bringing city responses emergency aid, flood control and policing would not be an easy sell for residents. I have experience with waiting hours, and sometimes days for a sheriff to respond or for the county to clear roads after a heavy rain storm. The code compliance responses from the county are abysmal at best. When you have a neighbor who decides not to empty trash or has created a situation that is dangerous to the neighborhood, the county has a very difficult time responding. I know our city code enforcement needs to have more staffing, but I have never seen an emergency or hazardous issue not be addressed in a timely manner. What about joining the city would be a down-side for a heights resident? Actually having a voice and vote in local elections and decisions would be major from both sides.
