Honoring Community Volunteer and Activist Selena Williams

Mayor Paul Anthony Courtney and Mayor Pro Tem James Noble attended the official bench dedication ceremony for community volunteer and activist Selena Williams at Sturnacle Park May 29, 2021.

Family members shared their memories of Ms. Williams and her dedication to making a difference in the lives of Barstow youth. Many recollected about her desire to improve the park facility for its local youth, and how dedicated Mayor Pro Tem Noble had been in helping her achieve that dream.

Mayor Courtney spoke of her Godly purpose in life and how Selena made dreams into reality for her community. A plaque was presented to the family on behalf of the City council to memorialize the day. The memorial bench with an engraved photo of Selena was placed facing the playground and sandbox so she can forever be a Guardian angel to watch over the children that will play at this park and grow up in Barstow knowing they too can make a difference in their community, remarked one family member.
